Pierre AMBROGIANI 1907/1985
Ambrogiani Pierre, born January 16, 1907 in Ajaccio, death Allauch September 23, 1985, is a painter, engraver and sculptor French.
Pierre Ambrogiani born into a modest family, came to live in the old popular area of Marseille. From the age of thirteen, he was first employed in Marseille Colbert as the bearer of despatches, and it is 1928 to 1950 factor to the Post in Marseille.
In 1936, aided by Andre Malraux and Louis Aragon, he participated in the creation of the first House of the Province of Culture with friends Marseilles painters, Antoine Serra, Toncini Louis François Diana.
Must Marseille personality Ambrogiani Pierre is also a friend of Marcel Pagnol and Jean Giono. His studio is located during Estienne d'Orves, with the Old Port. He travels the country with his car shop that serves him painting on the motive. It installs in a workshop at the dock Rive Neuve Marseille in 1943.
Renowned for its palette of bright colors, he painted landscapes of the south, still lifes of fish. It also cut many boards to illustrate works.
In 1962, he decorated with frescoes and stained glass church of the Immaculate Conception in Marseille.
We owe him a postage stamp, Saint-Paul de Vence, in 1961.
He was buried in St. Peter Marseille. His body was transferred to the cemetery in Sault, in the Vaucluse.
